Kimchi Fried Rice

김치 볶음밥 or kimchi bokkeumbap or kimchi fried rice.No matter what you call it, it’s delicious!

Korean food is one of my favourite foods to eat and cook and I hate cooking!

The reason I like cooking Korean food is because it’s delicious, it’s easy, and super customizable. Which means if you don’t have something or don’t like an ingredient just substitute it.

So let’s get to it because I know we all hate long pointless blogs when we just want the recipe.

It’s easy, you don’t need much, and you can get this all at your grocery store-except one ingredient (possibly, depends on your grocery store).

-Rice (but like I said it’s customizable. Use couscous, quinoa, whatever you want)

-Kimchi

-Sesame Oil (you can use whatever oil you have but I really enjoy the taste of sesame oil)

-Garlic powder

-Onion powder

-Gochugaru or red pepper flakes (I use flakes AND powder)

-Gochujang or red pepper paste

-Green onion

I’m not putting specific measurements, because it really is up to YOUR tastes. You might like it spicier than I make or my recipe might be too spicy for you. Start with a small amount of all of the ingredients and add more if you want.

Super easy, here we go.

1. Make the rice. I use a rice cooker because it’s easy

2. Once the rice is cooked, heat a pan with sesame oil (about a tbs but I never measure)

3. Plop in the rice, start frying. You don’t need to wait for the rice to do anything special. I fry everything at once. So add the rice, add the kimchi (you can cut up the kimchi into smaller pieces) add the seasonings.

4. When everything is heated through, add the green onion as a topping.

5. Enjoy!
