Ghosts! —Small Motor Practice!

I think a lot homeschoolers or sahm’s might forget about small motor skills. It’s easy to overlook or just sounds difficult.

If your kiddo has never used scissors, then skip this activity and work on some small motor things before doing this activity. Whilst scissors are small motor, I wouldn’t suggest a kiddo who hasn’t done other small motor skills first jump into doing this one.
They need to build some hand strength and a tad of coordination before taking on scissors.

I cut out a ghost shape from white paper, and then showed them they would cut strips all along the bottom of the ghost.
I showed them how to accordion fold the strips, which is also a small motor skill and a brain challenge for kiddos to figure that fold out!

As they cut their strips and folded them I cut out two ovals from black paper and a wavy mouth shape. Of course you can let them do this, it was just a choice I made!

Let them glue the eyes and mouth wherever they want them to go.

And now you have a cute ghost to hang up and your kiddos just did some hand exercises without even realizing it!
